Communities and Mod Journalsmetahuman_rp is the community you will use when you thread. All entries within it should be written in third person. All threads require a who, what, when, where, and rating. A cut-tag can also be used to hide the first post of the thread.
metahuman_ooc is the community you will use to post anything out of character related. You can introduce yourself in it, ask for plotlines, and otherwise chatter amongst yourselves.
metahumanmods is our mod journal. We have all of your basic information, contact list, and updates for you.
meta_news is our form of the newspaper. It is an in character journal with articles written by the mods to inform your characters of the events that took place. You can use this for your characters to keep informed, and also you can suggest articles that might involve your characters or events. Before submitting an article to the mods, discuss it with one on AIM.If approved, send it via PM to the mod journal.
metalines is a community specific for discussing plot and story lines amongst the other members. Joining is not moderated, but entries are.
mhbackstory is a community set for roleplaying/threading backstory things, to develop a past history of your characters. Such as, siblings, relatives or old friends/lovers.
bullshat is our random/bs community. one rule:NO LOLCATS they're not funny.
aimchats this is the community to post aim chats between characters. not logs, but chats it is to keep threads and actual rp separate from aim conversations. although, keep in mind that aim conversations should only be posted if they have purpose to them. (Such as character/plot progression.)
Characters
Your characters should be of your own creation. They can be influenced by characters from X-men, Mutant-X, Heroes, etc., but should not be carbon copies of already existing characters. Just the same, they should have their own original histories.
There are classes your character can fit into. They can either be good, bad, or neutral, and all variations of those groups. Despite these groups, your characters powers should be realistic to their age and physical abilities. Their personal feelings and personalities do not determine their powers and abilities. Also, not all of the characters are for the party they belong to, they merely fit there because that is where they are. They also can change positions, depending on subplots in the game.
Any and all characters can still be injured and have weaknesses. They might be fast enough to dodge a bullet, but it'll still hurt if they get hit by one. Your characters powers should range from powerful to not very handy at all. In other words, don't be a complete mary sue.
The limit on characters is four.
Played-bys
We mods are not very strict about what sort of played-by you choose. We only ask that you be reasonable when picking, and have one that has a lot of icons to use. Also, don't pick someone bizarre looking. As such, the mods do hold the right to deny any pb they feel doesn't fit in the game.
Settings
Despite being a futuristic storyline, there has not been much advancement. There are no flying cars or robots to clean house. In fact, despite it being the year 2021, you can play it as if it were modern day. You're free to give your character a really neat advanced bike or skateboard, or have a fancy computer, but nothing like metal wings to fly around with.
This game is set in New York City mainly.
Plots
You are free to create as many subplots, with as many characters, as you want. If you plan on doing something huge, inform the mods before doing so. We'd hate to veto your idea after the fact.
We encourage plottage beyond the typical friendship and romance that goes on. While we fully support characters shacking up and having a good time, we'd like to see more than just that. Give your character something to do other than another person.
Activity
If you are not going to be active, don't join the storyline; it's that simple. If you do not have regular access to the internet, or can only be on a few hours a week, it isn't worth your while to join.
Updating character journals and threading are ways to show you are keeping up with the storyline. You should participate in journal conversations regularly and at least update each character journal once a week.
Threading is a large part of being active in the storyline. Play with people! Introduce your character to new people. Do not form cliques and only play with certain people. Make open threads to open up new subplots. As such, threading is mandatory.
a hiatus will only last one month and then the player, assuming they have not returned by then, will be removed.
IC versus OOC
We all know the difference. What happens OOC stays OOC, the same goes for IC. If you cross those lines, you will be reprimanded.
What you know OOC is only your knowledge. Your character does not know what you know until they find out IC. If you fail to abide by this common rule, you will be removed.
To be blunt, we do not put up with people's shit. If you cause problems you will be removed. There is no need to be a jackass in a storyline. This is supposed to be fun.
Even if you have a problem with a mun, you do not take it IC. The same can be said for disliking a character, don't take it out on the mun.
NPCs
NPCs are characters you create that are not actually played by anyone. These will be used to kill off, whether it be in the newspaper, or play itself.
You can use NPCs when threading, whether it be random people in the scene, character family members or friends, or people that are injured and killed.
Please do not use an NPC as your character's boyfriend or girlfriend.
WRITING
It cannot be stressed enough that you need to have at least some grip on how much to write. One liners will get you made fun of and removed from the game. When you write, at least give the other person you are playing with two paragraphs. It WILL NOT kill you, and if it does, then leave the game.
THREADING IS MANDATORY, PERIOD.
also, NO LOLCATS OR ANYTHING ALONG THE LINES OF SIMILAR RETARDATION WILL BE TOLERATED, PERIOD.
